Hello 2012,
I hope the end times does not happening sometimes during the end of this year =p
I felt like I posted a lot less in here this year, but then again, I never really write blogs and what not to begin with. I do not putting down my thoughts anywhere because they are normally so negative when it comes to me talking about myself.
So how did this year go? Hrm, I guess this would probably be a good time to reflect on my year. I basically thought about this year as I was playing a mind numbing game called Jamestown, an old-styled arcade flying plane shooting game which included one of the best in game sound tracks I have heard. To be honest, I feel like this year was an interesting year for me. Switching out of Computer Science gave me a heck of a lot free time compared to back then. It was this year that I switched from CS to Linguistics (wth? yeah I know). So I suppose I am just going to minor in CS instead and major in Linguistics. Because of that, it puts me back a year anyways so I’ll be a suuupeerr senior.
This year was an interesting learning experience too. As far as computer stuff goes, I started building people computers this year. I built my little brother two systems, my roommate one, another friend one for his birthday, and a pair of twins on their builds. So I guess if anyone wants to build a computer / needs one just ask =p. In TeSPA, which I now spend majority of my social interaction time with now days, I feel like I have learned so much random stuff that I has absolutely nothing to do with my major. Since no one in there had any experience in online broadcasting and screen capture, I decided to pick it up as a side project. Since then, I’ve been working the TeSPA stream in tournaments and what not. First streamed tournament, there were only average of 200ish concurrent viewers throughout the course of one day (couple thousand views), but for the second tournament there were an average of 2000 concurrent viewers (400-500k views throughout the day). So it was pretty neat experience to see that something I was a part of was viewed by so many people online as well as the couple hundred live spectators that came to watch. From running events like those and planning them, I ended up putting so much time into the organization that I ended up drifting from going to AACM. I guess it was about time. After we trained the new set of AV members for AACM, I just felt that I was not needed there anymore so I kind of stopped going. There’s too many new people and I just don’t feel like a part of any crowd there. Maybe I’ll go more this year.. we’ll see how lazy I get.
So how was 2011 spiritually? Honestly, I don’t know how to answer that question. It is obvious that I am not on any sort of spiritual high right now. I guess you call this a spiritual drought. I guess a lot of things made things come to this. In short, I think I just walled myself off from the world a little bit more. <- wow that sounds depressing. Okay, well at least it shouldn’t be as bad as it sounds lol.

Winter Break:
This winter break has been pretty good. I got to meet up with a lot of people that I have not seen for a few years. Saw some UTSA folks, my first friend ever, and some out of state people. This winter break also another interesting learning experience for me. I came home to find that my dad got me a server computer to mess around with..except it had no OS, hard drive, or RAM -_-“. Anyways, got to mess around a little bit with Windows Server 2008 R2. I was going to learn how to do a RAID 5 hard drive setup, but hard drive prices are too insane for me to play around with that many hard drives. After setting up the server, slopping a Ventrilo server on there (ask me for Vent info if you want in), and configuring remote desktop to work, the server now lives in the office. It was a good learning experience to configure all the office’s computers to run our shipping / processing program to retrieve database info from the server. When that was done and over with, I am now given a touch screen monitor that has room to stick a tiny motherboard and stuff in it (kinda like an iMac, but runs a Windows OS instead) to play around with.

That darn motherboard is sooo tiny. In the middle of the break, I went to California to visit family and accompany family to places they had to go. It was the first family trip I’ve had in a long while. I think the last time was either Miami or France and that was a few years back. My little brother went wild with the new camera he bought. Here’s a sample of his work:

Hope everyone had a good year! May 2012 be a better year for all.
Today in Chinese, I randomly greeted my professor, “lao shi hao!” *slight head bow*
In confusion to my random respectful comment, she responded in Chinese, “Did you not finish your homework or something?”
(there was no homework due, but when she passed back my bad quiz grade she said: Oh so that’s why you were so nice earlier)
xD

Yup I guess I haven’t posted in this for a loooooOooOoOoOonnng while. I guess I can say there’s nothing new. Same old boring life, repetitive cycle of daily life. Less apartment dinners this semester :(, more random McDonald runs, meeting more people outside the usual Asian Christian circle. Life in general got more quiet. Not really going out to large group stuff and events as I use to. Our class feels spread and divided and I feel more and more like I don’t mesh in, but ah well. I prefer it that way. Since the summer, I’ve picked up a lot of random esports duties. For some time I did casting for LoL (not so much anymore now). Lately I’ve been substitute admining for the NESL and head the TeSPA portion of LoL. For TeSPA, I also run their technical setups for the tournaments. Still don’t know what I want to do in life yet, but it wouldn’t be too bad if I can find some side job that lets me run these tech setups and stuff for big tournaments. As far as coordinating for LoL in TeSPA, I’m getting to hang out with a lot of these guys on the team. Hopefully these bonds created here last and we’ll create some sort of lasting community for years to come when I’m not around. There’s gonna be a big $3,000 prize pool Starcraft 2 Tournament Saturday and I hope that ends up going well. Ta-ta for now~~~~~
